30th December 2019: Some more news from 30th December – mainly swans.
Ewell Fen – Whooper Swan 13
Long Drove – Whooper Swan 96, Mute Swan 6 and 23, HEN HARRIER 1 male, Roe Deer 5
North Fen – swan sp c100, Roe Deer 4
28th December 2019: On Christmas Day, to north of Dam Bank Drove - Whooper Swan 98 feeding on sugar beet leftovers and a further 20 on Ewell Fen.  Yesterday, in the same area – Whooper Swan 96 and Mute Swan 12 and today – Whooper Swan c90 on Ewell Fen and Mute Swan 47 to north of Dam Bank Drove.
Also, today, Great Spotted Woodpecker 1 drumming in Aldreth.

7th December 2019: Report from Simon: 1st December, Aldreth - Little Owl 1 heard calling from north end of village. 6th December, Aldreth - Coal Tit 1 on peanut feeder in our garden - only our 2nd or 3rd record here.
6th December 2019: We went down Dambank and Long Drove this afternoon, after the fog cleared, and still very wet and muddy after at least 3 dry days! Not much to report, but a few Fieldfares , 9 Mute Swans, 1 Heron, a total of 5 Kestrels, 20+ Stock Doves, 9+ Male Pheasants, 3 Green Sandpipers, 7 Grey Partridge,  2 Roe Deer and looking over towards Chain Corner from Earith Road approx 50 Whooper Swans near the  Sutton Road(from the Washes).
Also seen by Jake A. the other day, a Fem. or immature Merlin heading towards Sutton road from  Station/Witcham Road.    Sheila and Ian D.

16th November 2019: A Raven seen in  a tree in Haddenham Churchyard a couple of days ago, perhaps the same one seen in Aldreth Road  18th October !  Ian D.
31st October 2019: We had noticed this spider on the kitchen ceiling for a few days and thought that it might be a Noble False Widow.  I managed to photograph it and confirm the identify.  This is the species that the tabloids get very excited about as it has a very painful bite.  Simon

18th October 2019: A Raven was circling just now (09:50) over Enchanted Hill, Aldreth Road, Haddenham. It was calling repeatedly : the clipped "corp corp corp" call - and I had a good view in my binoculars, including the long neck and wedge-shaped tail. I've lived in Cambridgeshire for 7 years now and I think it's the first one I've ever seen in East Anglia (let alone Cambs.). Stephen B
14th October 2019: In Wilburton this afternoon, a Brambling was with a flock of at least 15 Chaffinches (mostly males) feeding on the remains of the maize crop at the start of the public footpath back to Haddenham (on the north side of the A1123).
Further west along the footpath and nearer to Haddenham, 2 Siskins flew past, calling. Stephen B
6th October 2019: First  report for the Autumn :-  1 Redwing and 1 Chiffchaff in the same tree in my garden, today, 5th October. Jake A.
25th September 2019: IMPORTANT SIGHTING JUST RECEIVED: 22nd August 1 OSPREY fishing over Guppy's Pond. Also that day, seen flying over the Gallery in Haddenham. Sheila D.
21st September 2019: Total of birds seen  on Dambank and Long Drove   4 Mute Swans,  1 Grey Heron (f/o) 23 Corn Buntings, small flock of Goldfinch,  2 Reed  Buntings, mixed flock of Stock Doves, Pigeons and a few Lapwings. 1 /2 Kestrels, 1/2 Buzzards, 1 fleeting Marsh Harrier and 1 STONECHAT (fem.or juv.)  + a few Lesser Black backed Gulls. Also, in a field near drove  17+ Inkcap  toadstools. Galls Drove    1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Kestrel and ,50+ Lapwing with 60+ Lesser B.Backed Gulls flushed into the air by a predator(probably a Peregrine). Weather:  Beautiful sunny, warm September day!  Sheila and Ian D.
15th September 2019: Flat Bridge, Little Grebe 1, Cormorant c5, Mallard c100, Gadwall 35, Teal 14, Buzzard 1, Kestrel 1 or 2, OSPREY 1 juvenile, Green Sandpiper 1, Yellow Wagtail 3, Meadow Pipit 5+, Swallow 10+
Dam Bank Drove, Corn Bunting c35 SIMON.

15th September 2019: Three men in a boat on Guppys Pond today, doing some clearing work before next Sunday's (22ND SEPTEMBER)  afternoon boating . Open to all.

26th August 2019: Some news from Simon Stirrup. Flat Bridge - Little Grebe 3, Heron 3+, Cormorant 5+, Tufted Duck 1, Mallard 40, Gadwall 10, Teal 1, Mute Swan c10, Marsh Harrier 1, Buzzard 1, Green Sandpiper 1, Lapwing 1, Golden Plover 1 or 2, Snipe 1, Kingfisher 1 heard, Yellow Wagtail 5, Willow Warbler 1, Whitethroat several, Corn Bunting 6. Nine Acre Wood - Red Kite 1, Long- winged Conehead 4+

North Fen, Haddenham - Marsh Harrier 1 adult female, Yellow Wagtail 1, Roe Deer 1 female and 2 calves

24th August 2019: Trip around the droves this morning, hot and sunny even at 9.00 am! NINE ACRE WOOD area, 1 Herring Gull, a Whitethroat, Yellow Wagtail and 2 Moorhen.  DAMBANK  3  Linnets, 50+ Goldfinch, 2 Kestrels and 2 Swans(by bridge).  LONG DROVE 200+ Goldfinch, 2 Kestrels.BACK DROVE  Up to 10 Chaffinch small flock Long Tailed Tits, Blue tit  Green Woodpecker and Robin. 1 Field Vole, many small white Butterflies, Red Admiral and 1 Painted Lady.  Not as much about as we had hoped, but becoming very hot by 11.00. Interesting that two lots of Kestrels with two flocks of Goldfinch, that didn’t seem bothered by them!! Sheila and Ian D.

• North Fen – Marsh Harrier 1 male in wing moult
• Dam Bank Drove – Herring Gull 2 adults with a flock of Lesser Black-backed Gulls
• Long Drove – Gadwall 6
• 2 Swift
 Attached is an image of a Cormorant perched on wires at North Fen.  A very heavy bird!
